Chris Douglas began his tenure with Phthalo under the moniker Rook Valard, with his album “Systematic Desensitization” in 1998. From that point Douglas has released five albums with us under his more well-known pseudonym O.S.T., and also contributed remix material as Dalglish. From his works in the world of outsider electronics, Douglas has been as a major player in the grand narrative of electronic music. His sound has followed a captivating evolution, from early endeavors with hardware still encompassing the sounds of human involvement, to post-organic software work that sounds like a prophetic report on the state of the future. Douglas is not only an audio journalist documenting a rapidly expanding post-organic world; he is also an artist in the classical sense, using technological abstraction as a medium through which to express sometimes frighteningly visceral human emotion.
