‘The Stranger’ was released on Phthalo in 1997. The man behind this self-titled effort was James Kirby (aka V/Vm, Leyland Kirby, and countless other guises). Here, as The Stranger, Kirby offers seven desolate, nightmarish landscapes in which a consistent atmosphere of unease is punctuated by hellish noise and violent percussive outbursts.
