‘Systematic Desensitization’ is Phthalo mainstay Chris Douglas’ (better known as O.S.T.) first album on Phthalo, under the one-time moniker of Rook Valard. All elements of Douglas’ signature sound are firmly in place here, from extensive exploration of heavily processed, raw, beaten-up drum machines, to menacing and distorted synths.
